Tripura Transportation
Tripura is connected to Assam and other Indian states by the National Highway 44. It is also connected by rail and is connected to India through Assam by a meter gauge railway line extending to Lumding and Silchar. The capital city Agartala is the most important transport route to Tripura. Agartala has a well connected air, rail and road network.
Tripura Roadways
Tripura is connected to Assam and the rest of India by National Highway 44. The highways (NH44 and NH 44A) connects Agartala to Silchar, Dharmanagar, Guwahati, Shillong and Aizawl. Bus facilities are available from Guwahati, Shillong and Silchar to Agartala. There is bus service to Dhaka from Agartala. The cities of Dharmanagar, Kailashahar, Udaipur and many others are connected with Agartala. On reaching Agartala one can travel upto any part of Tripura.
National highway 44 (NH 44) starts at Sabroom in South Tripura, moves towards Agartala in the north and then finally turns north eat to enter the state of Assam. Being the sole highway of Tripura, it is known as the lifeline of Tripura.

Tripura Railways
The main railway station in Tripura is the Agartala railway station. Agartala could be reached by train from Silchar and Badarpur in Assam. From Lumding, Assam, there is overnight express train for Agartala. There are also railway stations in Dharmanagar and Kumarghat. The meter gauge track that connects Lumding with Agartala measures as long as 413 kms. There are various modes of transportation to reach Agartala station from the city. Hence reaching the station is not a big hurdle for the travellers.

Tripura Airways
Tripura could be reached by air via the
Agartala airport. There are direct flights to Kolkata, Guwahati, Delhi and Chennai and other places from Agartala.
Agartala airport is the busiest airport in the Northeast after Guwahati. Located at a distance of 12 kms from the capital city, Agartala, the Agartala airport is administered by the Airport authority of India itself. Work is still going on in order to upgrade the airport from domestic to international level.
Flight services provided to and from Agartala airport are by Air India, Indigo, Jet airways and Spice Jet.
There is a also small airport at Kailashahar. In the airport small chartered planes land.
